(Quick post just to get back in the swing)
Messa Back, Yet Again
This time from Cancun! Lauki finally managed to squeeze out a real vacation amongst all the between job turmoil.
We were in sunny Mexico for a week and it was amazing.
Cancun is basically New Orleans (think Bourbon St.) meets the Florida Keys. On one side you have a stunning (and I've been to a lot) beach with lots of quiet and space. On the other you have the restaurants, clubs etc.
We split our time between the two, partying about every other night.
Other highlights included...
the last Mayan city, Tulum. It's also the only one overlooking the Ocean.
Xe-La, the most beautiful river I've ever seen. We snorkeled and floated on innertubes across it's length.
Jet Ski on the Ocean. A blast and very different from stillwater. We caught some serious air (for wimpy tourists), probably five feet at the highest.
Lot's of fun on a badly needed get away. That's all for now.

Meesa Back
and meesa very tired so forgive any and all spelling/grammar errors.
First and foremost, Mom's fine now. She has to start taking insulin (type 2 diabetes) but with luck it won't be a permanent thing.
She had gotten very lazy recently and it cost her. She was only checking her blood sugar twice a week (as opposed to twice a day), hadn't seen her doctor in 2 years(!) and completely forgot her diet. That led to a blood sugar level of 1000, which should have put her in a coma. A healthy young person should have fallen in one, much less a 63 year old woman in a wheelchair.
With luck and prayers (which are welcome), she will be able to control it as before with just diet and simpler medication.
What else... Lauki was going to take a big, international trip to celebrate the whole job/severance thing but we're scrapping that in case anything else happens with the family. This month was the whole only a finite amount of happiness thing. Something had to go wrong in light of all the good job news.
Speaking of the airline industry, I took 7 flights in 2 weeks, one was one time!

In Between Flights Update...
Well, Laura's birthday was yesterday. That was one day after getting back from Miami (why we missed Kashi's party). We went to White Rock Lake and just relaxed for many an hour.
I got her a chair she's wanted for a long time (hey, as long as there's a present I know she wants, I'm happy) plus assorted DVD's and CD's.
Back in Miami, my mom had a Diabetes episode and is in the hospital. I'll probably fly back down there this weekend. The outlook is generally good. It's just a matter of getting her blood sugar back to normal. She might be out by the weekend. I'll stay for a week or so to help with the transistion and relieve my sister (she's taken all this week off to be with her at the hospital... ah. living far from home guilt. It's times like this when it hits so sweetly). The worse part will likely be financial as she has no insurance. Time for that raise from the new job to come in handy.
Other than that, let's see. My old VP is now interviewing at my new company! That's good because she likes me. It's bad because I... well, let's just say I didn't exactly tell my former employer and my new one the same story. We'll leave it at that.
